When you think of parents,
what things come immediately to mind? Are words like "starve" or "beat"
among them? Shockingly, in a recent blog post, parental choice
opponent Diane
Ravitch has offered up a Louisiana teacher's perspective to
support the view that parents really don't know what's best for their children when it comes to education.
In the post, titled "Do Parents Always Know What Is Best?" Ravitch promotes the view that parents
are not capable of making the best decisions when it comes to their child's education because they're "easily swayed by politicians" and don't understand how schools work. This post cites a teacher making the broad
assertion that parents are abusive to children. Read the insults below:
Believe it or not, Ravitch's blog is not alone in her demeaning rhetoric.
Union leaders and education bureaucrats from across the
country have routinely belittled parents; they believe that their own
power is more important than giving parents a choice in their child's
education.
This assault on parents has got to stop!

Not to mention a huge out-of-control Child Protection Service second-guessing and crucifying parents for no good reason at all.

ReplyDeleteCome on, is that your real name? It's quite appropriate. Who are you "shilling" for? I'm sure that you're being paid a bundle to promote this hateful propaganda for some private, for-profit and "non-profit" interests who are just lusting for our tax dollars.
And for what...let me guess, "more testing"..."charters"..."vouchers"..."triggers" and much more.
It's wrong to attribute someone who quotes someone else in her article, and then imply that the words were from her. They weren't. And don't pretend you don't know what I'm saying.
Shame on you. Sellout.

Parents, please don't fall for the hype. Educators know without a doubt that the PARENT is a child's first and most important teacher. We need you! Please continue to strengthen the parent/teacher partnership for the good of all our children.
